Member Recruitment

On 25 October 2021, the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal will launch a recruitment campaign for up to 15 Solicitor Members and up to 10 Lay Members to join the Tribunal in 2022.  Solicitor Members are practising solicitors of at least 10 years’ experience and Lay Members are not solicitors or barristers. The advert and a detailed information pack with details of how to apply will appear on our website on 25 October 2021. We will also be holding a remote event on 3 November at 5pm when you can find out more about the role and application process. Interviews will take place in January 2022.

To help you get a feel for the roles, we asked two of our Members, who joined us in 2015, to tell you about their experiences and you can find this below. William Ellerton is a Solicitor Member and Carol Valentine is a Lay Member. We also thought it might assist you to know a little more about the type of cases that come before the Tribunal and the decisions that Members have to make. Again, you can find more information below.

We hope that you find this information useful.
